The Mystery Plant…

About 4 weeks ago I walked down to the ol compost pile and saw lots of weeds…but wait! There was some sort of viney bushy plant that was just out of the ordanary.

I have had a garden in the past but that was before chickens! The girls found a way into our garden even after fencing in the garden and fencing in the chickens we always ended up with half our produce pecked at! So we stopped gardening and now trade eggs at the farmers market for whatever veggies we need.

This is our mystery plant today. In the past week it has gotten buds and started blooming yesterday with pretty orange/yellow flowers.

A couple buds fell off and I think it could have been from the wind last night but around here I’m never sure! The leaves are pretty big some of them being over a foot long and 6 inches wide.

I think it could be some type of bush zuchinni but really I have no idea! I’ve been amazed at how fast it has grown! It has trippeled in size every week.

Busy Bees!

While I don’t have bees myself I have always wanted to get some for the small farm I call home. There seem to be sooooo many people with honey bees out there lately and I just think they are the new thing lol! I don’t know if it’s just around where I live in Michigan but the bee population this year is just buzzing (see what I did there)! This gives me a great opportunity to take lots of pretty summer bee pictures!

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

My absolutely favorite thing to do on my free time is bake! I love it and can never bake too much. I will share at least one new recipe every month. There will be some cookies and cupcakes but mostly Cake Pops (duh!).

You will be seeing lots of pictures on my blog because I love taking lots of pictures. I may occasionally have a story to go with a picture and will make a post about that.
